Sea Rover’s Kids Day!

...a day filled with learning, excitment, and fun!

Building on our success during the 52nd and 53rd Clinics, the Sea Rovers will again be hosting displays and activities for younger and future divers during the 54rd Clinic on Sunday, March 9, 2007.  We're excited to once again expand this program to include new features and opportunities for younger divers!

2008 Clinic Events:

  • Educators from the Northeastern University Marine Station Outreach Program
  • The New England Aquarium’s Education Department Touch Tank.
  • Dive store professionals with equipment designed for younger divers and information on the wide range of courses available to kids under 15.
  • Marine fish and invertebrate ID training classes

Kids, bring your parents to the Sea Rovers Kid’s Day on Sunday from 9:30 to 3:00.

Northeast REEF Fish ID Program

Bob Michelson will conduct a two (2) hour workshop to teach kids how to identify 56 species of local finfish using photography as the teaching tool.  Based on the REEF Environmental Education Foundation’s Northeast Fish Identification Program, the program shows how to identify these creatures by using body shape, size, fin structure and location, body markings, coloration and habitat as identification keys.  Memory clues aid to make this learning experience fun for SCUBA divers and snorkelers of all skill levels, as well as teachers and students from elementary through college level.

All support materials needed to identify these fish and even begin conducting fish surveys in the New England region will be provided.  This workshop is sponsored by “Photography By Michelson”, in Braintree, MA.

Advance Registration is Required: Please email us at KidsRegistration@BostonSeaRovers.com to register for the workshop.
